- Review the plan.Check categories and proposed filenames before making changes.
- Choose what happens.Download a ZIP or copy into category folders. Moving originals is a separate choice.
- Read the result.Keep the page open and check the completion status. There is no automatic undo.
Will this change my original files?
ZIP mode creates a categorized download and leaves originals unchanged. Direct-folder mode copies files by default. Only enable Move originals if you want source files removed after their destination copies have been verified. A stopped operation can leave completed or partial destination files.
What does File Organizer sort?
It uses filename extensions to place files in 12 named categories, with unmatched extensions in Other Files. It does not inspect document contents. Direct-folder selection scans top-level files only; subfolders are not scanned.
Can I use it in my browser?
Choose files for a ZIP download, or use direct-folder access when your browser provides the folder picker. Folder access requires permission and availability varies by browser. The ZIP library is downloaded from a CDN; selected file contents are processed in the browser.
How are duplicate names handled?
The preview assigns numbered names within each category, ignoring case when checking collisions. Direct-folder mode also checks existing destination names at execution time, so the final name may differ from the preview. It does not provide a transactional rollback or an undo operation.
How large a batch can I organize?
Choose at most 2,000 files totaling 500 MB. ZIP creation uses browser memory and can still fail on a resource-limited device. Review the destination preview before running; keep the page open until the status reports completion.
