True Burn-In Redaction

Amateur tools simply place a black rectangle over text, allowing anyone to highlight and copy the secret text underneath. Tangent permanently flattens redactions into the image stream—making underlying text unrecoverable.

Deep Metadata Scrubber

PDFs quietly store author names, company IDs, software versions, and revision history in hidden XMP streams. Tangent purges these hidden tags completely before outputting your file.

Zero Outbound Bytes

All parsing, rendering, and rebuilding happens entirely in your local browser sandbox via WebAssembly. Disconnect your Wi-Fi and the tool will continue working with zero interruptions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can someone remove the black boxes to see my redacted text?

No. Unlike standard PDF editors that merely place a graphic shape layer over live text, Tangent uses raster burn-in flattening. The text characters beneath the black box are permanently destroyed and replaced by solid black pixels in the rendered document stream. It is mathematically impossible to uncover.

What hidden metadata gets wiped during export?

When the "Purge Metadata" option is active, Tangent strips the Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator application, PDF Producer, and both Creation and Modification timestamps, as well as unformatted XMP XML packets.

Is it safe to redact bank statements and medical documents here?

Yes. Your document never leaves your machine. The entire process runs locally in your device's memory using client-side JavaScript. No document is ever uploaded or cached on an external server.
